Chaos Into Beauty

I have been a practicing artist since I was five. What I mean is that I entered a school-wide art competition and won. The top prize was a beautiful hand-made, ruched, and embroidered doll's dress, which I still own. I have been making art since then, in between an assortment of management jobs in the charity sector, and a stint as a costume designer in New York.

About ten years ago I took a brilliant two-year creative writing course at the University of Sussex. I focused on short stories, entered some competitions, and won a few prizes. I do love to write, and I love to make art. I live in a highly creative town here on the South Coast of England. There is so much going on it is hard to keep up with it sometimes. This blog is my attempt to share some of the magic that is happening in art in this part of the world.

If you look at my website, you will see that birds and nature feature prominently. This is my love and I am going to focus the blog on nature as it is depicted in art. Nature is often chaotic, and I am going to look at how artists make sense of it and turn nature into beauty. I hope you enjoy it.
