I've been experimenting with oils, using Cobra, a non-toxic, water soluble paint from the Netherlands.  I try very hard to stay away from toxic art substances and use non-toxic methods in my printmaking also.  These oils are my experimentation in the Flemish method, which involve multiple layers of paint - opaque to very transparent.  The transparent paint allows the eye to see through the paint layers, thus creating a 3D effect with depth of colour and luminesence.  You can see this especially in the yellow bird.
